My Review

Jenny Proctor is a great author, and I really enjoyed this book.  I instantly loved Eliza.  She is a fabulous character, and it wasn't just because she has red hair.  I loved how caring and kind she was.  Henry, on the other hand, was a mystery.  Don't get me wrong, he is a great guy, but one page I would feel like he made a breakthrough, then the next he would totally shut down.  Henry was kind, but very reserved.  I'm glad he was able to work out his issues before he made his decisions on where he wanted his life to go.  He really had a lot of things to work out.  I can't say more about him without revealing the whole book, but he is worth the wait.  Eliza had a past too, and I was happy to see how her character advanced as well.  I really felt for these characters and their trails.  Eliza also befriends a co-worker, Flip, who shows interest in the church, but are his motives for doing so the right reasons?  Even if he has motives, I really liked Flip.  Jenny does a great job with all of her characters.  

4 out of 5 stars.  This book is written well and once you start, you won't want to stop until the end.  I liked the point of view switches between Henry and Eliza.  It really helped me get to know them better through each other's eyes.

My Review

Immediately when I started reading Sweet Confections, I knew I was going to love it.  There is humor, heart, romance, suspense and lots of sweets in this great book by debut fiction author Danyelle Ferguson.  I could see Danyelle's personality shine through in her writing.  The characters have depth, as does the story.  Danyelle has many of my tastes.  A couple of her characters have names of basketball players long-loved by myself and my best friend growing up.  Stockton and Malone.  If I had a son, I would have wanted to name him Stockton (after John Stockton, or Ewan after Ewan McGregor, but hubby would have given a flat NO to that one:).  

There were many things I enjoyed about this book.  Danyelle wrote her characters well.  You can tell you are reading a good, well-thought story, when character development is strong.  Rachel is fantastic, I liked her instantly.  Her spark and spunk was enjoyable, and I especially loved her red hair.  Graydon was also a treat.  He has his work cut out for him with Rachel, but when they get together, it was worth that wait.  

I can't wait for the next books in this series!

My Review

I am so excited to shout this new book from Dorothy Keddington from the rooftops!  I have been eagerly awaiting a new book from Dorothy for years.  Dorothy is the beloved author of Return to Red Castle, Jayhawk, Shadow Song and many others.  Dorothy is also my "Aunt Rae", so that makes it all the more exciting.

Hearth Fires is full of the same heart-pounding romance, suspense, and twists that make all of Dorothy's books shine.  Hearth Fires has a page-turning plot and well developed characters that will keep you up late reading.  I loved Mackenzie and William.  They had a connection that was instant and deep.  I loved the kind, caring way William was with Mackenzie and when he was gone, I missed him.  All of the characters are enduring and entertaining.  You will be thinking about these characters, long after you finish reading.  The story is so exciting, and the romance heart-felt.

My Review 

I liked Iris instantly.  Especially when she moves to Alpine, changes her clothes, hair, and life.  I admit I was nervous about a few things, that she would regret some choices later, but I didn't know Iris.  She is a fantastic character.  I especially liked it when she met Trey.  Their first scene together was very funny and flirty.   I loved it when Iris came home from their first meeting with the surprise that started it all.  When they meet up again, I loved the idea of the "fake girlfriend/boyfriend" and hoped that it would lead to more.  I was more than pleased with the end result of the book and enjoyed the ride.  Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all sunshine and roses.  I enjoyed that it took work.  Once Trey and Iris decided to be together there was no stopping them.  

4 out of 5 stars.  Shannon has written a clean, fun book with humor, lessons and lots of romance.  I can't wait to read more from her.  Do Over has also been nominated for a 2013 Whitney Award.  Shannon also writes fantasy under the pseudonym Katie Lee O'Guinn.  I will be reviewing her Taming the Wolf series soon.  As well as her Love & Dessert trilogy in her own name.

My Review:  My Own Mr. Darcy is an enjoyable romance with lots of fun and heart.  Lizzie is a quirky girl.  Quirky in the way of letting her obsession with Matthew Macfayden rule her romantic life. She meets Chad a sweet, attentive guy, but he's not Mr. Darcy.  They go on a few dates, that Lizzie enjoys, but then she sees the man of her dreams at her work, Matt Dawson.  They gradually get to know each other.  To Lizzie, all the rude and snide things Matt says or does, is exactly like Mr. Darcy.  Is Matt the man of her dreams?  Or can Lizzie see past her dreams and give Chad a chance?

I really enjoyed this book.  There is romance, humor, and fun.  Janessa, Lizzie's best friend, is a hoot and a breath of fresh air.  I liked each character's importance in the story.  Chad, stole the show for me.  I loved all the details and care that Karey took in writing this book.  Lizzie is an aspiring interior designer, and I loved being in her head when she was designing and the presentations.  (It reminded me of Karey's book For What It's Worth with cake decorating.)  I loved what that added to the story.

4 out of 5 stars.  I love Karey's books.  They are clean, romantic, fun, and page-turning!  Characters are fun, and the stories are entertaining.

My Review

Kate Worthington comes from a loveless family.  Her mother and her sisters only want what is best for them, even at the expense of others.  Kate is nothing like them.  What Kate wants most in the world is to go to India.  Her deplorable mother wants her to marry Mr. Cooper.  That disgusts Kate, mostly because she said she will never marry.  Her best friends are Henry and Sylvia Delafield.  Every year they go to Blackmoore, the estate which Henry will inherit, and Kate has always wanted to go.  She finally gets her chance, but she makes a deal with the devil.  Her mother. 

Everything about this book is beautiful.  The story, the setting, the characters, even the not so nice ones.  As much I loved Julianne's first book, Edenbrooke, I loved Blackmoore even more.  I was instantly taken into Kate's world.  Although she is a stubborn character, I enjoyed her sense of adventure and I loved that she knew what she wanted.  Even though it may not be what her heart wants.  I enjoyed her walks in the moors, her exploring the manor, and I especially loved it when she was with Henry.  There is a scene where they are on the beach together talking that I read several times.  There are some complications with her relationship with Henry.  I can't give anything away, but I could not put this book down until I was finished.  I had tears in the eyes many times, and the tears at the end were from happiness.  Also, the way that Julianne worked flashback scenes into the story was brilliant. 

5 out of 5 stars.  Edenbrooke won Best Romance for a 2012 Whitney Award and Julianne also won the Whitney for Best Novel of the Year for a new author.

My Review -- Possible Spoiler

I really enjoyed this book.  I would say my one complaint was Sean.  He was such a jerk.  Some very tragic events occur in Eva's life, and what she has to cope with is big and life changing.  Sean treats her poorly, and she doesn't see it as first.  Only when Peter comes into her life, is when things start to change with their relationship.  However, Peter has some secrets of his own.  Although I didn't like that one character, I really liked Eva, Peter, and the other supporting characters.  Through the time when Peter and Eva were getting to know each other, while he was away for work, Peter would send Eva notes.  I really liked how he saw her and the way their relationship developed.  Eva goes through a lot in the book, and I really enjoyed what she learned about herself, too.

3 1/2 stars.  I was on the edge of my seat at times, wondering what would happen to these characters.  The Guy Next Door is well written and an enjoyable, fast read.

My Review

I really enjoyed Dead Running. I love a book that has action, romance and makes me laugh too. Cassie is a great character with a lot of spunk and determination. I thought the nicknames she gave everyone were funny, and even when she found out someone's real name, their nickname was stuck.

4 out of 5 stars. There is some heart pounding suspense that will keep you turning pages until you're through.

My Review

Oh wow! I love how popular stories are becoming lately. They are perfect for a quick read, with fast pacing, and great characters. This book is a wonderful example of that. I loved these wonderful stories by these three fabulous authors. All three have awesome characters that made me smile, and are full of (of course) romance with a Christmas spirit. 

5 out of 5 stars! Great holiday read full of heart and fun.

My Review

I found out about this book from an email I got regarding recent releases.  I was immediately impressed with the cute cover and description of the book. I emailed the author right away, and asked her if she was interested in a review. Luckily, she was, and here we are.

Tess is a hometown girl who has been hurt before by love, and has a hard time trusting. She is the school's show choir teacher. Jack just moved into town and is the football coach. In a morning staff meeting, they see each other from across the room and immediately sparks fly. But, there is problem. Tess recognizes him as the guy who broke her heart years earlier. After the meeting they both are asked to meet with the principal, there is a situation with the budget, and either football or show choir has to go. Jack can't believe it, he just got hired as the coach. Tess is heart broken because she has a lot riding on this job for family reasons. What will become of their relationship, and can Tess forgive and forget? How can they get past one of them losing their job?

I really enjoyed this book!  Ophelia's writing style is fresh and fun.  I liked the characters very much, too. Tess's best friend Mac, made me smile a lot, as did Tess. I am a huge fan of POV switching by main characters. I love seeing the other side of situations, and the author did a great job with that. There is humor and heart to this book, and I was really happy with the ending.

4 out of 5 stars. This is the author's first book.  Ophelia has another book coming out March of next year, Abby Road. Speaking of Love will also come out in 2013.

In emailing her back and forth, I can tell that Ophelia is a sweet heart, with lots of humor and a great personalilty. It really shows in her writing style.

There is a little bit of language, nothing that I was offended by, just a heads up. Also, the main characters do have sex, but there are no details. There is a mention of a teen pregnancy in conversation, recalling a memory.

My Review

The Reluctant Bachelorette is another strong offering from Rachael Renee Anderson.  Rachael has an ability to make you instantly care about the characters and want to keep reading.  I also really enjoyed the change of point of views.  From Taycee, you could possibly see Luke as a uncaring guy, who breaks hearts as he goes.  But, with the point of view change, you see the Luke is just as clueless as any other guy out there, which I thought was very funny at times. Most of time, he says and does all the wrong things, and it either drives Taycee crazy or makes her heart beat faster.  Taycee has loved Luke for most of her life.  He is her brother Caleb's best friend, and she would always tag along with them around town.  Then Luke moved away, and no one heard from him for 10 years. 

Something always happens when I read one of Rachael's books.  I smile a lot, cry a lot, and at the end I am so happy I spent the time reading her books.  The ending of this book is a great one.  I also loved the Sneakers references.  That show is an old favorite of mine.  What I enjoyed most about this book was Taycee's self discovery.  She learned a lot about herself being the Shelter Bachelorette and I really enjoyed her journey.
