Goodreads Summary:  A love so strong, even eternity can’t separate them.

Evie Starling has lived a relatively uneventful life hanging out with friends, gossiping about boys, and driving her 1966 Mustang. All of that changes when she moves to Gunnison, Colorado, to start college and meets two mysterious men.

For centuries, Alex Night and Emil Stone have yearned for Evie—but they each have their own reasons for wanting to be with her. When both men claim to be her soul mate and tell her about an unbelievable past, Evie learns that she’s not the person she thought she was. Soon, Evie finds herself in the middle of an age-old battle between the Amaranthine Society—the soul protectors, and the Daevos Resistance—the soul destroyers. With a past she doesn’t understand, and a future rife with danger, Evie has to decide who she can trust. But Alex and Emil aren’t the only ones who want Evie, and her soul is about to become the rope in an eternal tug-of-war.

My Review

Evie Starling hasn't had the best luck with boyfriends.  She gets so upset with her last boyfriend that she may, or may not have let all the air out of his tires :).  Evie leaves her parents, hometown, the life she knows after graduation for Garrison, Colorado.  That is where she is going to college, and wants to get a jump start on her new lift.  Out hiking one afternoon, where Evie would never admit she is lost :), she meets Alex Night.  They hit it off instantly, but Evie wonders why Alex won't touch her, even for a hug.  Some strange things start happening around town, which make Alex nervous. So nervous, that he feels he has to leave her to protect her.

This book was very enjoyable.  There is a mix of romance, suspense, and some fun humor.  I've had this book on my to-read list for a while, and was so pleased with the result.  Evie is a very spunky character, and I enjoyed the humor in her inner voice.   She is also very stubborn, which was fun too.  I also like Emil a lot.  Both he and Alex have secrets, and even though they are in a "love triangle", I found myself really liking both guys, and can see her with both of them.   It will be interesting to see what the author does with their relationships in the next books.

4 out of 5 stars.  Read more about Angela on her blog.  Follow her on Facebook, and Twitter.

  1. Let the air out of his tires? At least she didn't key it, I guess. Interesting premise.
