Goodreads Summary

From 4-time Whitney Award winning author, H.B. Moore, comes the new biblical novel about Deborah the Judge, a woman who rises from oppression and leads her entire nation to victory.

After years of mistreatment, the Israelites prepare to defend themselves against the oppressive Canaanites. Readying for war not only takes secret military training but also an Israelite leader who is willing to both stand against generations of oppression and follow God.

Deborah, a young Israelite woman, lives a quiet and isolated life with her father and brothers. As a shepherdess in the hills near her home, she knows well the perils of her work. The hand of the Lord is apparent, and it is clear that hers will be no ordinary life.

Years later, Deborah is a faithful wife and mother when she learns that the Third Judge of Israel has died--and she has been called to take his place. My review

Deborah, Prophetess of God is another fascinating historical fiction story, told by a talented author. I was immediately taken into the story and admired and respected the characters portrayed. The author was able portray beautifully who Deborah could have been. I also enjoyed the switch to Barak’s perspective. He and Deborah had a wonderful respect for each other. I always enjoy any book from this author, and I appreciate the time and research taken on behalf of the readers. Deborah is a women of miracles. She exemplifies courage, resilience, respect, and love.

Goodreads Summary

What do a crooked detective, an upstanding psychiatrist, and a teenager who can’t remember killing her parents all have in common? Nine years of lies.

He hid her away from society so she couldn’t turn him in. But, in the end, he couldn’t hide her forever.

My Review

Breaking Jess is a non-stop thrill ride! I almost read this book in one sitting, but I had to get up early the next day, so I had to stop. Even then I had a hard time putting it down. The characters are gripping and the scenes keep you at the edge of your seat. I was constantly guessing what would happen next. I kept reading and reading, worrying if it everything will work out in the end. The author does a great job of keeping a steady pace throughout the book. And oh boy, the bad guy was bad! Every time this person was on the page I cringed.

5 out of 5 stars. There is a little bit of language, nothing I found offensive.

My Review

Author H. B. Moore has a talent for bringing the scriptures to life. I love the heartfelt and caring perspective she brings to these amazing historical characters. As I read this book, I could only imagine the real Anna as she awaited the birth of the Savior. I loved the addition of the fictional Julia and what she able to learn from Anna and her wisdom. The alternative timeline was enjoyable and a great way to get to know who Anna could have been. I enjoyed Julia and her journey and the small miracles that came along the way.

Goodreads Summary

Master storyteller and best-selling author H. B. Moore brings to life the biblical account of Ruth as never before in this vivid retelling of her courageous and faithful life.

Following the death of Ruth's husband, she finds herself at a crossroads. Rather than return to her family and hometown, the young widow makes a remarkable decision: she will remain with her mother-in-law, Naomi, as her caretaker and companion.
Together, the two widows boldly leave behind the lives they knew in the land of Moab and make their way to Bethlehem, arriving downtrodden and destitute. Though Ruth works day and night to provide for Naomi, it is ultimately through the kindness and generosity of Boaz that the two women find respite from their trials. As Ruth comes to know Boaz, she finds that her broken heart is beginning to heal in ways she could never have imagined. But when a question of inheritance threatens any hope of a life with Boaz, Ruth may have to give up the last piece of her heart in order to secure her future.

My Review

Ruth is another beautiful book written by a talented author. I have always loved Ruth and Naomi's story from the scriptures, so I was looking forward to reading this book. As with every book from this author, the characters are well-developed and their struggles were heartfelt.  Ruth was a wonderful character. The author does a great job of showing the reader what a compassionate person she was. I also loved Naomi.  I enjoyed the POV switches from Ruth and Boaz. Both character's journeys were captivating and well written.  The author took a story from the Bible and made it her own.

Goodreads Summary

Let my people go ...

A plea has been made in behalf of the children of Israel. Now comes the epic climax years in the making—the final showdown between two of the most powerful men in history—one fueled by pride, the other guided by the world of God. Moses has received an extraordinary call from the Lord: he is to lead the exodus of the Hebrew people out of Egypt, ending generations of bondage. And he must return to the land of his birth to boldly petition a man he does not want to challenge ... or lose to: Ramses—pharaoh of Egypt. Ramses, harboring years of feeling betrayed by his best friend, is determined to stop Moses no matter the cost. He will not yield, even as a dark veil of plaques and pestilence descends over the land of Egypt.

What follows is a powerful chronicle of the struggles of the children of Israel as they traverse uncharted territory, both physically and spiritually. Amid the horrific catastrophes devastating their land and through the dramatic evens that follow, the Hebrews must face their fears and their faltering faith. For even in the darkest of times, there are manifestations of the Lord's constant care to inspire their hope for a bright future.

My Review

I enjoyed many things about EXODUS, and what I appreciated most was the point of view changes.  I felt it really helped the story progress and I was able to get to know each character even better.  Heather has an amazing talent in bringing her characters to life.  Each character was expertly written with care and detail. Even though there was a lot of going back and forth (of course that was Ramses' doing:), Heather was able to add excitement and suspense to the story.  As much as I liked each character (especially Bithiah), I enjoyed getting to know Aaron more and how we were able to see the experiences through his eyes too.   I can tell there was a great amount of research involved and Heather pulled it off perfectly.

Goodreads Summary

Experience the life of Moses as never before, following his journey from fugitive of Egypt to prophet of God. In this exhilarating follow-up to H.B. Moore’s biblical drama The Moses Chronicles: Bondage, the account of Moses’s flight from Egypt continues. Moses’s life as he knew it is over. He has chosen to stand for his beliefs at the cost of being cast out of his royal home and family. He is free of the wickedness of Egypt, but peace is not to be found, for Moses is as much an aimless wanderer as those in the nomadic tribe he encounters in the wilderness. Exhausted by long weeks of travel, he nevertheless jumps to action when he observes a group of young women accosted by a band of Bedrayan men at a communal well. These lovely daughters of Jethro are grateful for his help, and their Midianite tribe welcomes Moses with open arms. As he learns the ways of the Midianites, his kinship with Jethro grows—as does his admiration of one of Jethro’s daughters, Zipporah. But when Moses suddenly receives a burning call to free the very people he has long oppressed, will he have the courage to return to the land from which he has been exiled?

My Review

Another compelling read from a talented author.  DELIVERANCE picks up right where BONDAGE ends.  Every turn of the page brings a new adventure, full of suspense and a great amount of action.  The story is constantly moving and the pages turned fast as I was eagerly awaiting what would be next for Moses.  The conflicts with the other tribes were intense and suspenseful.  This is a very exciting story full of action.  I loved the point of view switches between Moses and Zipporah.  I enjoyed seeing what each character thought in certain situations.  Moses's character leapt off the pages, as well as Zipporah's.  I loved how she was her own woman, and knew what she wanted.  Heather also took great care in writing the supporting characters too.  I loved Jethro, Zipproah's father.  He was a wonderful man full of compassion and trust.  This book really got my thinking about who Moses really was and what an incredible man he was. Full of faith and strength.  I loved his devotion to his new life in the desert, and how he followed the Lord to deliver his people.  I am anxiously awaiting the last book in the series.

Goodreads Summary

Undercover agent Omar Zagouri has been ordered to Giza. A prominent Egyptologist was murdered, and a priceless artifact—the only complete version of the Book of the Dead—is missing. Omar is still reeling from the recent disappearance of his girlfriend, Mia Golding, but he puts his quest to find her on hold to track down the lost piece of history.

Omar’s mission is not just to locate the sacred book; he must also rescue the two archaeologists kidnapped and forced to translate its hieroglyphics under threat of death. Their kidnapper is determined to discover the text’s rumored explosive revelation: that Moses did not receive the Ten Commandments from God but instead copied them from the Egyptians. Though Omar’s need to find Mia grows more urgent, he must focus on finding the enemy who will stop at nothing to ignite a controversy that will change history, and the world, forever.

My Review

Another exciting and not-able-to-put-down-book by H. B. Moore. Her characters are flawlessly written and the plot is page-turning. I enjoyed the switch from Omar to Hatshe.  At times the switch would allow me to catch my breath, if only for a moment.  There is heart pounding action and romance as well.  It was hard to say what I liked best in the book.  I know I loved the characters, but if I were to choose a favorite if would be Hatshepsut.  Her strong personality and determination leapt off the page.  As much as I loved the scenes with Omar, and all the action and excitement going on with him, I looked forward to reading more from Hatshe.  Heather has a talent and is a very gifted author.  The reader will appreciate all the research and care she put into writing this book.  All of the characters and scenes are written well.  This story reads fast and is very action packed too.  Omar is a great character too, and I enjoyed his sense of humor.

Goodreads Summary
Moses has always felt like an outsider in his powerful Egyptian family, even though his close relationship with Ramses, the prince of Egypt, and their cousin Pentu keeps him entwined in the dealings of royalty. But when their youthful antics get them in trouble, the Pharaoh decides it’s time for all three of them to grow up and own their respective responsibilities. Now betrothed to a woman he cares nothing for, Moses wonders where his life is headed.

Miriam, a Hebrew slave, lives with a secret she cannot share with anyone. In a desperate attempt to control Miriam, her older brother, Aaron, and her father look to find her a husband, something Miriam has never been interested in—until Caleb, a young, handsome man, confesses his feelings for her and asks her father for her hand in marriage.

When Libya advances on Egypt, Moses and Miriam are suddenly thrown together as the Egyptian royals and soldiers flee. A gripping account of the events that lead to Moses’s flight into the wilderness, The Moses Chronicles: Bondage will take you back to a rich period of history replete with scandal, strife, love, and hope as God prepares a prophet to lead His chosen people.

My Review

As with any of Heather's books, the characters in The Moses Chronicles: Bondage are brought to live with her amazing storytelling and writing.  I loved this fictional account of Moses and Miriam.  I appreciated the point of view changes between Moses, Miriam, and Bithiah.  Miriam was an especially enjoyable character.  She was a very strong, and courageous woman in hard times.  My heart broke for her with all she endured.  Another aspect I enjoyed was Miriam's love for the brother she didn't know.  Heather's Moses was also a strong character that was honorable and wise.  This book is very hard to put down and reads quickly.  There is so much to this book that will keep you turning pages.  For me, it was the characters and the beautiful, gripping story.  I also enjoyed the other characters, Caleb and Bithiah especially.

5 out of 5 stars.  I can't wait for Deliverance, the next volume in the series.

Goodreads Summary

The first love story on earth... Haunting... Lyrical... Unforgettable...
In a world where everything is perfect, yet the same day after day, Eve must decide if she wants to live forever in the garden with Adam and never know what lies beyond the walls. When she makes a choice with terrible consequences, the pain of mortality is swift. As she and Adam explore their new world, and her body changes, Eve discovers the sweetness of first love with the man who has always been at her side.

My Review

I absolutely loved this book.  Heather does an incredible job of telling this beautiful story of our first parents.  I appreciated Heather's notes in the beginning of the book, that she believes one day our questions will be answered about the Garden of Eden, and that this book is not to answer those questions, but to simply "bring to life an incredible man and woman who sacrificed immortality to start the human race".

Heather's Eve is a sweet, curious woman who is loved protectively by Adam in the garden.  They work together to tend to the garden and the animals.  Eve is fascinated by the tree of knowledge of good and evil, while Adam fears it.  Lucifer is there and his presence causes changes and death in the Garden.  Of course, we all know what happens after that.  Eve partakes of the fruit, as does Adam, and they are cast out.  But that is where their journey begins.  Their struggles in the wilderness and how they learned to adapt were heart-felt and challenging.  Lucifer comes to confuse and manipulate them.  What I loved most was Adam and Eve's strong love for each other.  They knew they needed to multiply and replenish the earth, but knew it would bring Eve "great sorrow".  I enjoyed their individual journeys of self discovery and finding their new love outside the garden.  Heather wrote these characters so well.  I enjoyed how the story was told from both character's point of view.  I loved Eve, her sweet nature and innocence were enduring, but what I loved most about her was how she was strong too and came to Adam's rescue at times.  Adam is strong and shielding and the perfect protector, and Satan is just, well Satan.

My Review

I may sound like a broken record when it comes to Heather's books.  Every book from her is solid and engrossing.  I thought Finding Sheba is one of her very best (and that says a lot, because I have loved every I have read of hers).  This story is so well-crafted.  I could tell that this book took some time for the author.  The characters and plots are amazing.  I loved all the jumping around from character to character that this book does, too.  It really kept me on my toes.  I love it when a book challenges me and keeps me guessing and I never know what is going to happen next.

5 out of 5 stars.  This book has everything for every reader.  Action, suspense, romance, and mystery.  You will not be disappointed.
