Goodreads Summary

All is not well in Wyoming. Katie Macauley gave up her life-long dream of returning to Ireland in order to make a home for herself in Hope Springs, but her future has never been so uncertain. The town is more divided than ever, with both the Irish and the Reds stealing property, burning buildings, and endangering lives.

Katie’s heart remains sharply divided between her love for playful Tavish and steady Joseph, a decision she feels ill-prepared to make. In the midst of the growing unrest, temperatures drop quickly, too quickly, and Irish nightmares of famine and cold resurface as the little Wyoming town struggles to beat the harsh winter.

Katie makes one sacrifice after another to keep the peace and help see her loved ones through the difficult days ahead, but will it be enough? Can the town make amends before their hatred consumes them all? And will Katie find the love she has been searching for as well as a home to call her own?

Author Interview!

My Review

Reading Hope Springs was like visiting old friends.  I was immediately taken back to Wyoming with Katie by Sarah's amazing story telling.  Right at the start, trouble is brewing in Hope Springs.  A friend is beaten close to death and all hope seems lost that the feud between the Red Road and the Irish will ever get better.  Katie takes it upon herself to help.  Even if it means going to Mr. Johnson at the mercantile store to beg for the "Irish" prices to be lowered.

Katie's past is full of heart break and sorrow, as is much of her present.  I loved her example of endurance and trying to make the best of tough situations.   I love stories about the Irish.  It is in my blood as well, so I truly appreciate reading stories that have reminders of my heritage.

As much as I loved Longing for Home, Hope Springs stole the show for me.  I laughed, I cried, and I finished reading very satisfied.  The ending is beautiful.  I know this book for a challenge for Sarah, not only mentally but physically.  Sarah is a pillar of strength for all she has endured this past year.  I think, however, it has only made her writing stronger.
